This preview of Lurka’s upcoming B-side on Timedance Records is a percussive, industrial take on electronic music. ‘Battery’ takes influence from everything from the rhythms of African music to the harsh electronic tones of techno to form a minimalist exploration which follows a similar approach to that on the A-Side ‘Heat Mover’ which we covered a few weeks back. The interaction between the instruments form a regimented machine which pulses out strict, syncopated beats, with the end result creating a mesmeric wall of sound that is almost impossible to ignore. Lurka’s sound has been evolving since the beginning of his career, and it seems he’s finally found his forte here. -Dan Peeke
